Built during the 16th century by the Thirumalai Nayak king, the palace still stands as a testament to its glorious past. It served as the residence of the King Nayak and now showcases his throne for visitors to admire.

 The Nayak Mahal palace is divided into two main sections, Swarga Vilasam and Ranga Vilasam. Within these sections, you will find various areas such as the royal residence, shrine, apartments, theatre, royal bandstand, armoury, pond, and garden. 

The entire palace is a marvel of Italian architecture, guaranteed to leave every visitor astonished. It is a paradise for history enthusiasts and a treat for lovers of architectural beauty. The courtyard of the palace is adorned with grand circular pillars. 

One of the highlights of the palace is the mesmerizing light and sound show, which showcases the epic tale of Silapathigaram in both English and Tamil languages.

 The palace is open every day of the week from 9 am to 5 pm, with a lunch break from 1 to 1:30 pm.
