Velliangri Hills, also known as the "Kailash of South," is a captivating destination renowned for its Lord Shiva temple. Nestled in the Western Ghats, encompassing the regions of Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu and Palakkad in Kerala, this picturesque location offers a breathtaking experience. Situated at an elevation of 6,000 feet above sea level, Velliangri Mountain attracts numerous tourists who seek adventure through trekking. 

The 8km hike is truly enchanting, providing visitors with awe-inspiring views of the mountains and its surroundings. To reach the summit, one must conquer seven hills, where a magnificent panoramic view awaits. 

 Apart from its natural allure, Velliangri Hill holds great spiritual significance as it houses a Shiva Temple, where devotees worship the deity in the form of Swayambhu lingam. The temple is nestled beneath a natural cave, adding to its mystical ambiance. 

During the annual pilgrimage season, which spans from February to May, Velliangri Hill becomes a bustling hub of devotees. The hill's rich biodiversity, including its lush flora and fauna, as well as its dense forests inhabited by elephants, bears, leopards, and wild buffaloes, captivate both tourists and nature enthusiasts alike. 

 To reach Velliangri Hills, one can embark on a 40-kilometer journey from Coimbatore. 

The region offers a range of attractions, including the renowned Vellangri Shivan Temple and the majestic Siruvani Falls. Visitors can engage in various activities such as boating, trekking, camping, and nature walks, immersing themselves in the natural beauty of the surroundings.

 The best time to visit Velliangri Hills is from mid-February to mid-May, when the weather is pleasant and the pilgrimage season is in full swing, allowing visitors to witness the vibrant atmosphere and experience the spiritual essence of this remarkable destination.
